The flora of Thailand
Thailand is located in the tropical rainforest. About 65% of its area is covered with jungle.Flora of Thailand almost everywhere tropical, only in the mountains meet the temperate zone plants. There are about 10 000 plants.

Mixed deciduous forests are found mainly in the mountains of Northern Thailand in the north-west, as well as on the leeward slopes of mountains and valleys between mountains, where the dry season is more pronounced. As part of these forests are such species as teak, xylitol rubankovidnaya, pterokarpus macrocarpa and other typical component of these forests are bamboo.
Evergreen broad-leaved arrays monsoon forests are located in the west of Thailand along the river Mekhlong and in some coastal areas of south-east. This forest is confined to the most humid places. Here there are trees, typical of the rain forest. Among them: Yang, takyas, sandalwood, vines, etc.
Dry monsoon forest consists of stunted trees. Dominated by various species of bamboo and thorny shrubs. These forests cover about half of the forested territory of Thailand. Dry monsoon forest is found almost throughout the Korat Plateau, parts of the central part of the country, as well as in the high areas of western Thailand.
In the north-eastern part of the Khorat Plateau, subject to prolonged flooding vast stretches covered with stunted vegetation, dry steppe, which in the rainy season are transformed into grassy marshes.
On the coast there are thickets of mangrove trees. Groves of coconut trees and cassowary. In the mouths of the rivers rising nipa palms, in the swamps and lakes common water hyacinth, which is included in Asia from South America.
In northern Thailand on the open slopes of high mountains grow oak forests above 1000 m, mainly on the Square west, pine forests begin to be even higher stretch alpine meadows.
Especially prized wood and resin Yanga. Wood takyas not rot, it is also extracted from the resin (dammar), which is the production of varnishes. From arekovoy get catechu palm, rattan fruits are eaten, and the trunk is used for making furniture.
